Credit crisis seems to bring profit to an increasing number of alternative payment services providers. Ukash reports a high growth of the number of pre-paid vouchers issued this September in UK and Europe. The figure rose 130% above the same period last year.

As Ukash notes the credit crunch results in customers’ being more wary when using credit cards which leads them to pay for their online purchases with vouchers. Thus, instead of using their credit cards Ukash users buy vouchers at retailers and then entering the unique number at proper websites they make their payments for items.

Besides, the growing popularity of vouchers system is explained by the users’ concern over security issues as most customers are very unwilling to enter their sensitive information online. A research conducted by Interactive Media in Retail Group showed that customers’ confidence in online shopping security fell 2% last year.
