Citibank launches Metro Smart Card in Indian metro

[img_assist|nid=7325|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=66|height=100]A new collaboration of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and Citibank has resulted in a new twin-branded or '2-in-1' transit credit card system. This new system has never been implemented before in India but is believed to gain a great popularity and to bring large profits to its owners.

A new card system, Metro Smart Card, is to be expected to include all the advantages of a Citibank credit card and also to provide a free commute on metro. The main aim of this innovation is to ease the life of the population of Delhi.  

Citibank has already installed its point-of-sale terminals at some metro stations and continues installing them. Stations Kashmere Gate, Rajiv Chowk, Barakhamba, Dwarka Mor, Rajouri Garden and Pitampura stations are already completed.

Among other advantages of the new service we can note the following ones:

While traveling with a new card you will get 10% discount on travel fare paid.

Reward points for every Rs100 spent on online on the metro or somewhere offline.  

All the rewards are converted into metro points at no extra charge.

An international credit card. It is accepted at over 14 million merchant outlets across the world, in association with Visa international.
