Canadian e-commerce: bashful steps ahead

According to statistics in 2007 Canadian people spent 62.7 billion dollars online which is 26 percent increase over the preceding year.

Most transactions were committed in private sector. The sales rate there reached 58.2 billion dollars, and it means a 25 % growth. Whereas public sector business made $4.5 billion sales, a 30 % rise.

Outside customer sales reached 19 % in private sector, 62 % in B2B and 32 to 38 % in B2C.

As the report states online commerce occupied the first place per the wholesale factor that made up 17 %. Next on the list appears transportation and warehousing with 16 % and the third one is manufacturing at 15 % rate. The residual share was of arts, entertainment and recreation.

a Nevertheless, irrespective of the figures achieved e-commerce in Canada is still on a low level. It accounts for only 2 percent of total business activity.
