[img_assist|nid=8329|title=|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=100|height=65]Residents of the Sandy City now will be able to settle their utility bills via Internet. The Sandy City Council made a decision to conclude a contract with financial software company, Springbrook, for designing and implementing an online utility bill payment system.

Consumers paying for water may use Springbrook to log on to the city’s Web site and by means of a credit card or the online payment system, PayPal, they can pay their bills. In case a customer prefers to receive paper statements, he/she may go on doing it while the system offers receiving an e-mailed receipt which will be completely paperless.

According to the City Finance Director, Seth Atkinson, direct debit for the utility bills is more popular with the customers and the latter will be able to receive e-notices too.

The city will spend $6,449 for one-time startup fee and $1,291 for ongoing annual expenses. In case 7.75% of the city’s utility customers sign up for the service, the amount will be enough to cover the annual maintenance fee and the PayPal monthly fee.
