Barclaycard US hires away the officials of American Express

Barclaycard US, The place of Chief Information Officer (CIO) for Barclaycard US, the credit card business of Barclays PLC in the United States was recently taken by Phillip W. Steitz who previously worked as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for American Express.

The experience of Mr. Steitz makes up 25 years of work in management and technology. His responsibilities will include overseeing enterprise-wide technology strategy, systems selection and management, information management, application development, implementation of innovations, technology operations, information security, Web services, IT architecture, technology vendor oversight and technical leadership for Barclaycard US.

Working for nine years as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for American Express Phil Steitz was responsible for numerous technology innovations, including mass Web personalization, standards-based identity and access management, advanced performance engineering, real-time data integration for multiple business lines and other critical functionality.

Other companies where Mr. Steitz occupied various technical and management positions include Intelligroup, Entersoft Systems (now BEA systems), Financial Dynamics and Target Systems Development.
