Bangladeshis are to pay taxes online

Taxes are planned to be paid via online tax payment system in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The project is headed by the National Board of Revenue (NBR) which pursues the goal to make the work of the tax administration more efficient and transparent.

On Sunday at the tax offices the first measures were taken to automate the work. Online tax payment system is expected to be launched gradually unless the income tax offices are fully automated.

After the completion of automation communication between ratepayers and taxers will be improved. This will result in faster and uninterruptible work of the tax payment system.

"It is the formal starting of automation work, but major portion of the work, which needs proper planning, still remains to be done," says Kanon Kumar Roy, Convener of the automation steering committee.
