Slide, an enormously successful social network software maker, and incorporated in 2005 announced another
closure of $50 million institutional financing round. It is cited amongst first companies that were able to capitalize on Facebook and MySpace. The raised money would be invested in the further development of product and available features and future upgrade of MySpace platform with increase of the number of its employees from 65 to 100.

At present time Facebook claims 50 millions active users monthly and 143 million of the programs across the cyberspace developed by Slide. If the speed of growth would remain the same within the coming months than we should expect 200 million active users by the beginning of next year.

Taking a quick step back to the history, the first success of Slide was linked to this slide show application that let online users to change their pictures with glitter and other types of décor to share them with the friends. Famous for MySpace project after 2006 Slide had shifted its attention to Facebook development, exposed as a college social network, over-passing MySpace by daily traffic, software developer attention and posted media buzz.

Some sources suppose that the increased popularity of Facebook is explained by its appeal to a certain kind of our vanity and our self-importance and warn that further development of such social networks would distance people from each other barring the person-to-person communication.
