credit card payment While many major cities in the US allow homeowners to pay real property taxes with a credit card residents of Honolulu are not provided with such an opportunity.

“Virtually every American city, including Kauai and the Big Island, accept credit cards for payment of real property taxes and I think its about time the city and county of Honolulu enter the 21st century and also accept credit cards,’ Honolulu city councilman Charles Djou said.

In light of such condition a resolution was drafted by Djou to propose the city make a change and begin accepting credit card for real property taxes payments.

“Indeed it’s even more nonsensical when you understand that the city will accept credit card payments for the payment of vehicle taxes, but wont accept it for real property taxes its make no logical sense,” Djou said.

The resolution will be considered by the full city council for a final reading on Wednesday, the same day property taxes are due.
