United States reopens online gambling sites such as PokerStar

This week the US prosecutors agreed to let two of the three Internet gambling companies mentioned in a $3 billion fraud suit to re-launch their websites, partly to allow customers to cash out their money. The domains of these companies were seized by federal authorities and websites were shut down. 11 people were charged with tricking regulators and banks into processing illegal gambling proceeds.

On Wednesday an agreement was achieved under the terms of which PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker can reopen their websites so players can withdraw funds from their accounts and to allow people outside the United States to play poker for money. The companies specifically agreed not to allow poker play in the United States for money or anything of value.

Besides, the agreement stipulates the appointment of a special independent monitor so as to ensure the compliance with the agreement.

The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York said the same agreement is available to Absolute Poker, the third company named in last week's indictment.
