Hypercom implements EMV card payment system in Dubai Metro

Hypercom Corporation announced the completion of the full EMV certification of all of its Artema Modular self-service payment systems and Artema Compact countertop terminals across 49 Dubai Metro stations. The system will speed ticketing for 4 million passengers per month. Now travelers in Dubai’s urban railway network will be able to make payments using their chip and PIN cards.

“This latest certification reinforces our leadership position in self-service payment technology, our leadership in metro and rail ticketing systems, and brings new levels of speed and convenience to hundreds of thousands of travelers,” said Brian J. Stobo, Vice President, Middle East and Africa, Hypercom Europe.

Laurent Eskenazy, bids and system director for revenue collection systems of Thales, explains, “Demand for future-proof self-service systems is accelerating globally, enabling consumers to benefit from round-the-clock access to goods and services. With Hypercom, we are bringing state-of-the-art self-service ticketing throughout Dubai’s premier metro system.”
