UK is a world leader in buying food and grocery online

The latest report of eMarketer revealed a number of interesting facts. So, according to the study the number of online shoppers is constantly growing in the UK. It was stated that 68% of Internet users older than 14 years (27 million people) will purchase goods on the Internet at least once per in 2011. 

It also stated that the online grocery shopping is more popular in the UK than anywhere else. According to the recent study 16% of the UK web users purchased food and grocery items online in 2010. In Germany this figure was 7% and 5% in France. At the same time less than 1% of US internet users said that they bought their groceries online.  

According to official statistics UK online food and grocery sales increased by 15.8% in 2010 that is £4.8 billion ($7.4 billion). It is expected that this figure will grow up to £9.9 billion ($15.3 billion) by 2015.
