Spamhaus was DDoS attacked by Russian mafia behind WikiLeaks.info?

Spamhaus, the largest anti-spam entity, has recovered from a DDoS attack initiated against it over the weekend. The attack is attributed to the hosters of a WikiLeaks mirror called WikiLeaks.info in response to the Spamhaus’ warning that the mirror was being hosted by a Russian bullet-proof hosting outfit, called Webalta, that also played home to phishing, carding and malware sites.

In its December 14 notification Spamhaus wrote: “This new web site is hosted in a very dangerous "neighborhood", Webalta's 92.241.160.0/19 IP address space, a "blackhat" network which Spamhaus believes caters primarily to, or is under the control of, Russian cybercriminals.”

Meantime, WikiLeaks.info refuted any allegations over its ties with the criminal world and placed its own notification on the main page as you load the website. The notification says: “We find it very disturbing that Spamhaus labels a site as dangerous without even checking if there is any malware on it. We monitor the wikileaks.info site and we can guarantee that there is no malware on it. We do not know who else is hosted with Heihachi Ltd and it is none of our business. They provide reliable hosting to us. That's it.”

Besides, there is also a link to Google Safe Browsing Check for wikileaks.info that proves that Google analytical tools found no harm on the website during the analysis.

Meantime, Spamhaus stays sure that its website came under attack by the Heihachi group as a revenge against bringing its nefarious activities to wider attention.
