Which mobile operating system will dominate the world in 2011?

According to the forecast made by ABI Research the next year will see a 15% compound annual growth rate for smartphone shipments to mobile customers. Meantime, the mobile business customer smartphone installed base will surpass 30% across the globe and in North America it will exceed 65%. The researcher says that the domination of the market will be defined by the operating system.

ABI Research expects that in North America BlackBerry will maintain its leadership position but Apple and Android will gain a solid presence. If Verizon launches the iPhone, iOS market share will grow even more. The biggest growth in Western Europe will be recorded for Android while Windows Phone share is slipping.

The installed base share in Latin America will shift from a customer base using mainly Windows to one shared nearly equally by Windows, Symbian and BlackBerry.

In Asia Pacific Symbian's market share will drop significantly but Symbian will still maintain its lead; Android will reach the number two position.
