Why Nokia plans to close down its Ovi Files service?

As it became known, Nokia decided to shut down its Ovi Files service.

The service lets users access their computer data remotely.

As the company representatives announced, Nokia is discontinuing the Ovi Files service, effective October 1, 2010.

Initially, Nokia started building its own Internet services offering in 2007, but has ramped down several unsuccessful products lately. Later, Nokia built the Ovi Files service, which enables  users to access files on their computers from any remote computer through Internet, on top of its 2007 acquisition of US company, Avvenu.
