Craigslist’s demanded to remove its adult services section

State attorneys general nationwide, including Connecticut, Ohio and Missouri, are claiming popular site Craigslist to eliminate its adult services section, as they consider the website cannot adequately block potentially illegal ads.

The attorneys assert, Craigslist is not completely screening out ads that promote prostitution and child trafficking. Importantly, in 2008 the site creators pledged to improve their policing efforts.

Tuesday, the attorneys general announced they have sent a joint letter calling on the classified advertising website to get rid of its adult services category. As it’s known, total of 17 states are involved.

The states joining the effort are represented by Connecticut, Ohio, Missouri, Arkansas, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
