New text banking service launched for Citibank customers

A new service that delivers account updates on demand is now available to Citibank and credit card customers in the US under the name Citi Text Banking.

Citi Text Banking represents the newest addition to company’s award-winning US mobile banking platform, Citi Mobile(SM). Citi Mobile includes a downloadable app for iPhone devices and a mobile version of citi.com that customers can access from their smartphones' browser.

The new service provides updates for all Citi credit card accounts and for Citibank accounts linked to a Citibank ATM or Debit card, including checking and savings accounts, home equity lines and loans, personal lines and loans, and mortgages.

Utilizing the new text banking service, customers should simply text a short command - such as BAL (for balance) - to MYCITI (692-484). And, within seconds, they'll receive a text message with the account information they requested. It makes accessing their accounts as easy as texting friends and family.

Citi Text Banking was developed with a customer's security in mind. No personal information is stored on the mobile device, and full account numbers are never revealed.

Importantly, Citibank does not charge customers any fee for Text Banking. However, carrier text-messaging fees may apply.
