HSBC opens "Discovery Green" for Canadian software development team

HSBC's technology and services unit announced it opened an environmentally sustainable office in Canada to house its 850-strong global software development team.

The office in Burnaby, British Columbia, denominated by the bank "Discovery Green", has the five-storey, campus-style building with 146,000 square feet.

The site has been awarded LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for core and shell platinum by the US Green Building Council.

The new Discovery Green office centre is the primary design portal for all software development for HSBC globally, as Ken Harvey, chief technology and services officer at HSBC, said. The office plays a key role in One HSBC - the HSBC Group programme to enhance customer experience and improve cost efficiency through standardizing products, processes and technology around the world.
