Google tries to regain its sales in the music sector via a new service with LaLa

In a move to regain its contracting market share in the music industry Google has partnered with Web services LaLa and MySpace's iLike to provide online subscribers with a functionality that allows them to easily find, sample and buy songs on the Internet.

The new service will include playing a sample song. The pop-up box will allow users to listen to a track for at least 30 seconds and in some cases they will be able to play the entire song provided by iLike and Lala, which will then offer links to purchase the music.

In addition Google also struck deals with Pandora, iMeem and Rhapsody. Under the terms of their partnership agreements Google will provide links to those music sites, to help consumers discover music related to search queries.

With the new feature Internet users will find songs by entering a search by title, album, artist or even with a line or two of lyrics.

According to the official statement of Google it has not partnered directly with any of record brands while reports say that it signed agreements with companies like Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music Group.

With the Lala-powered music service users can stream any song in its catalog of 8.5 million tunes once for free, and then buy unlimited streams for 10 cents per track and MP3 files, starting at 89 cents.

As experts note the move undertaken by the searching giant is aimed to help Google to regain its sales lost to Apple's iTunes and other sites.
