Investors at Scottrade increasingly join its social network
An online investment company Scottrade welcomed its 25,000th member into its social media networking community this month.

Free and easy to join, the community at http://community.scottrade.com ties all of Scottrade’s educational resources together, adds peer-to-peer interaction and a 360-degree communication cycle with Scottrade’s developers. Because of this, community members’ participation has directly contributed to a number of project prioritizations and significant product upgrades.

For example, as a result of customer feedback, Scottrade recently launched an enhanced mobile trading site at m.scottrade.com. The site is different from many other mobile trading sites because it offers the freedom to manage accounts and trade online from any Internet-enabled mobile device – with no application to download.

Scottrade launched the password-protected Web site in April 2008. Now, 25,000 members later, the community boasts an updated look and newly added features. (Non-members can access the community, but are limited to certain areas.) In the community, once users create their unique profile, they can:

• Interact directly through discussion groups and blogs with other investors, providing a unique opportunity for peer-to-peer education. Some specialty groups include Active Traders, Long Term Investors, New Traders, Option Traders, Technical Analysis and Sector-Based Discussions.
• Share customized ScottradeELITE(R) layouts and Trade-Ideas(TM) filters as well as other files, ideas, strategies, tips, articles, layouts, filters and spreadsheets, giving customers a new resource in making more informed trading decisions.
• Provide feedback directly to Scottrade product specialists who develop and manage the trading tools, products and platforms, allowing Scottrade customers to have a true voice in their own trading experience.
• Learn from blogs written by fellow customers as well as Scottrade platform managers and experts. Topics range from the general basics of stock trading, to watching a specific stock, to more advanced subject matters like technical analysis. A library of educational podcasts on Scottrade products and services provides another way to learn.
