Recession makes people play video games less
According to the research group NPD study released Thursday, US video game equipment and software sales dropped by 29% previous month reaching the volume of $848.9 million. That is the result of the economic recession that also affected the gaming industry.

As for the hardware sales, they reflected drop of 37% from a year ago, while software sales slumped by 26%. At the same time, video game accessories sales slid by 12%.

Nintendo's Wii again became the top-selling home console in July, leaving behind Microsoft's Xbox 360, that appeared to be the only console showing a unit sales increase year-to-date.. As for NPD, Wii’s sales fell from last year. The third by sales amount console became Sony's PlayStation 3, followed by the PlayStation 2.

The top selling game for July appeared to become Electronic Arts "NCAA Football 10" with combined sales of 689,000 units across all platforms.
