Pirate Bay must leave Netherlands, Dutch court precepts

The Pirate Bay was ordered by Dutch court to eliminate itself from the Netherlands within 10 days or face fines of €30,000 per every day the order is ignored, up to a maximum of three million euros. That appeared to become a result of a copyright lawsuit and call for action filed by the local recording industry lobby group, Stichting Brein.

Thus, yesterday a judge ordered-Frederik Neij, Gottfried Svartholm, and Peter Sunde, Pirate Bay administrators, to "cease infringing the copyright" of the record labels and block the website's traffic to the Netherlands.

The court issued a default judgment in Stichting Brein's favor as the men couldn’t come to the hearing, Moreover, the precept came as a surprise to them because they weren't even aware of the case as they hadn't received an official summons.

Nevertheless, the Associated Press marks that it's not still clear how the site is to block all its traffic in and out of the country or whether the court can even enforce a ban if The Pirate Bay declines.
