Citibank is expanding its mobile service, presenting Citi Mobile For Smartphones

Citibank announced it’s to implement Citi Mobile for Smartphones targeting to expand its mobile offering for US consumers. The new service will cover BlackBerrys, Palm devices and iPhones. 

So, from now, Citibank customers will be enabled to access and manage their bank accounts anytime and anywhere trough their smartphone's mobile browser. 

However, as it was found by Nielsen's Q1 2009 Mobile Insights survey, consumers are no longer using their smartphones for business purposes only. Thus, 62% of recent smartphone punchers use their devices for personal reasons, like taking photos or texting friends, and only 10% use them only for business.

It was also found that Americans are switching to smartphones rapidly, accounting for 22% of all devices acquired over the past half of a year, that reflected US total market penetration growth of 16%.

The new Citi Mobile offering lets users of web-enabled mobile devices to easily: 

• View Citi account balances and account activity 

• Pay bills and set up recurring payments 

• Make transfers between Citi accounts 

• Locate Citi branches and ATMs 

• Connect to Customer Service
