Starting 2010 online games in China are too under jurisdiction of government

As it became known Wednesday from the General Administration of Press and Publication, next year China intends to launch a five year program "China Green Online Games Publishing Program” supporting clean online games.

Earlier this week, GAPP published a notice cautioning against the illegal release of online games. GAPP also claimed to carry out stronger control over the approval process. The notice criticized pornographic and violent games producing some companies on the Internet.

Chinese online game industry is to grow by between 30% and 50% this year as expected, with sales revenue of 24 billion to 27 billion yuan ($3.51 billion-$3.95 billion). There are about 200 million online game players in the country.

The Chinese government shut hundreds of websites in an ongoing crackdown on online porn and "vulgar content" that in some cases has netted dissident sites.
