Florida amends UI law to create new integrated Internet-based system
Florida has amended its Unemployment Compensation Law to create the Unemployment Compensation Claims and Benefits Information System, an integrated Internet-based system.

The new system will eliminate or automate existing paper processes to expedite consumer transactions and eliminate redundancy; enable on-line self-service access to claimant and employer information and federal and state reporting; and integrate benefit payment control with the adjudication program and collection system to improve fraud detection.

The Florida Unemployment Internet Direct and the Florida Continued Claims Internet Directory systems will be replaced by the new Unemployment Claims and Benefits Internet portal that will be operational no later than the end of fiscal year 2010-2011. Besides, the new Call Center Interactive Voice Response System and the Benefit Overpayment Screening System will be operational no later than the end of fiscal year 2011-2012, while the new Internet and Intranet Appeals System and the Claims and Benefits Mainframe System - no later than the end of fiscal year 2012-2013.
