Citibank expands mobile-based banking services in the country
Citibank, the largest foreign bank in the Philippines, has launched mobile phone banking service, that allows its more than 1 million customers to check their accounts, pay bills and transfer money from their cell phones. Citi Mobile Banking detects when a customer is accessing www.citibank.com.ph from a mobile phone and automatically directs the customer to the mobile- banking site.

All current Citi online users have access to the service. There is no need to download any new application to their devices, or register to begin enjoying the service. Meanwhile, current non-online users simply need to register for their online account on a computer in order to get access to the convenience of Citi Mobile Banking. Besides, the service is available to customers of Globe Telecom Inc., Smart Communications Inc. and Sun Cellular.

In addition, to ensure the highest level of security, the service utilizes dual-factor authentication. Transactions are encrypted and no financial information is stored on the mobile device.

The service is the result of collaboration with its affiliate, Mobile Money Ventures Llc., a leading global solutions provider of the next generation of mobile-financial services.
