Rising menace of spam is obvious, Google warns

Google warns web owners and operators, concerning the problem of a new online threat 'social profile spam' in which spammers create fake social profiles on a number of websites. So, some social networks have to withstand the everyday rising danger 

Spammers create fake profiles to accomplish various malicious tasks, they also open accounts to make other account holders follow them. To carry out this fake, they send users messages or friend request to deceive them to follow a link, persuading them to make a purchase or download malware by warning of low-quality proposition. 

Fake social profiles are used as an effective vector to generate webspam on good domains by searching opportunities on the web to host their links, redirects and malware. Thereby spammers infect these websites with two basic purposes: zero cost and getting benefits from sites' good reputation.

According to Google, advantages of high reputation of these sites reaping good results and has become very common today. Some counterfeit profiles, that use popular pharmaceuticals, are widely spreading on the Internet. 

According to Webroot, Internet security company, survey social networking website users are more vulnerable to financial losses, identity theft and malware insertions

Google asked website operators and owners to do whatever is possible to protect their websites and to make them strong against social profile spam.
