Identity Theft Manifesto advises on how to protect personal data
A new website providing real life advices how to protect against identity theft was launched on the internet. The "Identity Theft Manifesto" takes an in-depth look at ID theft, from how bad guys get your personal information all the way to how you can repair your damaged credit.

Identity Theft Manifesto was created by a woman who in 2006 found herself a victim of ID theft. She says during a job application background check, her social security came back registered to a man living in Arizona.

Thus, this website is a result of her experience trying to repair her good name and credit. Visitors of the site can find tips and recommendations on how to avoid identity theft with simple tricks and "being smart."

One trivial recommendation on the site for protecting your personal information against possible theft is to avoid leaving receipts for your ATM and credit cards behind. She also says you should mail your bill payments from inside the post office instead of an out-door mail box.
