ZapShares Inc today declared about launch of their free ZapShares software. It is the first software, which is specifically designed to help protect the 200 million users of P2P file-sharing software who are at high risk of identity theft and lawsuits. ZapShares software scans a user’s computer, identifies any potential security threats, and prevents potentially sensitive files from being shared.
“Many people who use file-sharing software are at high risk of having their identity and private information stolen, or are at risk of being sued by copyright holders, and up until now there has been no solution,” said Bernard Trest, President of ZapShares Inc.
A study conducted by ZapShares Inc revealed that 95% of file-sharers unintentionally make files available exposing them to identity theft and lawsuits. According to study findings people share such things as personal tax returns, banking and other financial information, credit card information, and other data using which identity thieves can steal a person’s identity. Businesses are also in the danger. ZapShares’ study showed that confidential medical information, business plans, and sensitive financial data being carelessly shared by employees of numerous businesses. Users of P2P LAN are also at high risk of being sued by copyright holders. As an example it can be lawsuits of entertainment businesses against people who have shared copyrighted music and movies online.
In order to struggle with the problem of identity theft and lawsuits on file-sharing networks ZapShares released its new software tool ZapShares, which has two versions: ZapShares Basic and ZapShares PRO.
ZapShares Basic is limited only to scanning for security threats caused by file-sharing software. This version is free to download. Also it allows users to see whether their computer has any security vulnerabilities caused by file-sharing software.
ZapShares PRO is a complete version of the software. It automatically monitors a computer, identifies potential security threats caused by file-sharing software, and ensure whether user’s shared files wouldn’t expose him and his private information to identity theft, or expose him to expensive lawsuits by copyright holders. ZapShares PRO is priced at $19.95.
