Craigslist car selling scams pose as protected by eBay
It was found out that during economic downturn, scams tend to increase. A Craigslist user has reported they almost became a scam victim.

A 1998 Corvette was put on site for sales for only $5,000. Although the seller emailed a photo album, they said the car was being held at a car shipping company in Arkansas, which cautioned the user. Moreover, when the user checked on Kelley Blue Book, they found out the car should sell for around $12,000 to $15,000.

Then the seller sent an email with eBay's logo on it saying money order sent would be covered under eBay's buyer protection program. Nonetheless, when contacted eBay said it only offered buyer protection for cars bought on eBay. Furthermore, the attorney general's office said once the money order was sent off, it was impossible to return it.

Specialists warn users to be aware of scams, and to do some research before expensive purchases are made.
