Conficker still very active, infections go as far as to Fortune 1000 companies
Researchers from Symantec have disclosed that Conficker worm was still infecting about 50,000 new PCs each day, with Brazil and India being hit the hardest.

Conficker began spreading late last year. It took advantage of the flaw in Microsoft's Windows operating system and mainly was “traveling” through networks, and using removable storage devices. The Conficker Working Group has set up so-called sinkhole servers that can communicate with infected machines. Moreover, the group reported the infection was discovered within many Fortune 1000 companies.

Although, the worm that got a lot of media attention in late March, is not being spoken about that often nowadays, experts say, it isn't going anywhere. It should also be reminded, the some were worried that an April 1 change in Conficker could mark the beginning of a new round of Internet attacks, but in reality the Conficker network is not being used that heavily, security experts say.
