NetSPI certified Squirrel Systems as compliant and acceptable for new deployment

Squirrel Systems, a full-service provider of point-of-sale solutions for the foodservice industry, selected NetSPI, a privately held information-security consulting company, to ensure that the Squirrel point-of-sale application complies with the Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) best practices. PA-DSS requires a new, more rigorous certification process to ensure that secure payment applications do not store prohibited cardholder data and are compliant with the overall PCI Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). NetSPI, a Payment Application Qualified Security Assessor (PA-QSA), tested Squirrel's version 1.55 against the 14 requirements of Version 1.2 of the PA-DSS. The tests were successful, and NetSPI certified the application as compliant and acceptable for new deployments. Joe Cortese, VP R&D at Squirrel Systems, said: "Payment security is a top priority for Squirrel and why we came out of the gate with a strong encryption security foundation. NetSPI was efficient and timely throughout the intense process, providing guidance and support to our team." Seth Peter, NetSPI CTO, said that the company was happy to help Squirrel Systems in this successful effort to validate its payment application. That in turn helped its customers comply with this important security standard.
