eBay wins lawsuit against L'Oreal

As it became known today, eBay won the court case brought by L'Oreal and other luxury brands, blaming the online market place for failing to do enough to stop sales of counterfeit production on the site, the Register reports.

eBay is always endeavoring to protect intellectual property of the brands, however it’s not to accept an active policing role. So the auctioneer is to meet all the takedown notices, though it’s not to pre-check every item presented on the site.

As for the French judge, he found that eBay was doing enough to cover its obligations under the law. Two lawsuit sides are to be in talks concerning their collaboration improvement until the end of the month. Then they are to meet at the court again.

Head of Trust and Safety for eBay UK and Ireland Richard Ambrose said believes that cooperation is the best way to fight counterfeits.
