As it became known, the Israeli 29 aged hacker Ehud Tenenbaum, cracked the Pentagon's computer system in 1998, is to be extradited from Calgary, Canada, to face charges in New York of masterminding a global fraud network. Tenenbaum was accused of stealing more than $1.8 million from Calgary company providing with prepaid debit and credit cards, Direct Cash Management, together with three other conspirators. Last summer he was sent to the Calgary Remand Centre from Montreal to face the Canadian charges. The hacker allegedly increased the limits on the cards through computer in his Montreal apartment, and then withdrew money from ATMs. However, on Tuesday morning the Crown withdrew six charges of unauthorized use of credit card data and one count of fraud over $5,000 against Tenenbaum. Hersh Wolch, Tenenbaum’s Calgary lawyer, stated his client agreed to the extradition as the Canadian charges were withdrawn to speed up the process.
