Facebook updates the function of reporting updates

Facebook is introducing a new live stream on its home page.

The live, real-time stream will enable users to stay updated on things happening without them having to press the refresh button. The page will be acting as a user-controlled scrolling marquee.

The update follows a real-time option introduced in FriendFeed of the site last week. Although, there was a possibility to click a pause button and stop updates from scrolling automatically, many users had complained that it created a sense of information overload.

Considering all this feedback, Facebook made its new system even better. Now users will have to click on the top-of-page where incoming updates arrive for the new updates to appear.

The representative of the company stated that these changes were being introduced as a result of the feedback collected when millions of users were calling for boycotts in protest of the retooled appearance of Facebook.

Moreover, it was disclosed that the live update function will be launched gradually, so it may not appear on all accounts immediately.
