TSYS and Banco Carrefour S.A. to launch hybrid MasterCard credit card

According to TSYS announcement, it has signed a multi-year contract with Banco Carrefour S.A., to process their business in Brazil. TSYS is one of the world's largest companies for outsourced payment services. As a first step of the agreement a new MasterCard hybrid card will be launched in June 2009. This card may be used as a private label card when used in Carrefour store, but it is also may be used as a general purpose credit card when used outside of Carrefour stores. 

Carrefour is Brazilian leading hypermarket chain. It is operating in Brazil for more than 30 years. Also it is a leading mass retailer of food in terms of sales. As Gaylon Jowers Jr., president of TSYS International said this agreement with Carrefour is "a true milestone for TSYS". He is sure that Brazilian market will grow and become the fourth largest by cards issued and the second largest by card transactions by 2011.

Carrefour selected TSYS' outsourced servicing model on its payments platform, which is called TS PrimeSM. Now TSYS is working with IBM in order to open data center facility in Brazil.
