eBillme and Shop.org conducted the similar surveys regarding expected spending for Mothers day. According to both studies, it is projected 20% of customers will shop online for a Mothers day gift this year. And approximately 9% of consumers will spend more this year on Mom than they did in the previous year. 24% of Males said that they would spend more online for Mom this year compared to 17% Females. Males are also twice as likely to spend more this year on Mom compared to Females. In spite of the level of income, all respondents are ready to spend online for Mom this year. Those respondents who identified themselves as ethnic (African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, Caucasians and so on) reported a higher likely hood of shopping online for Mothers day this year. African Americans 32%, Asians 31%, followed by Hispanics at 24% and Caucasians at 17%. 27% of single respondents will shop online for a Mothers day gift this year. This is compared to 24% who “Live with a Partner” and 19% who are Married. Residents of the Western USA are likely to buy online for Mom this year (25%) that compared to 22% in the North East, 20% in the South and 14% in the Mid West. It is notable that those who live in the South indicated that they will increase their spending on Mothers day the most this year.
