Criminal records checks now can be made online
The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) has announced the launch of an e-application system, known as e-Bulk, aimed at enabling organizations to apply for bulk criminal records checks.

The system was developed in response to the outcomes of the user feedback in 2007, and lets those who make more than 3,000 checks a year to submit multiple applications and receive the results online.

It has been revealed that each year the CRB completes more than 3.5 million checks against criminal records and 50% of applications come from 265 organizations. Consequently, CRB e-Bulk is expected to reduce the average processing time. Moreover, it has been stated, that with the system there will be fewer forms to complete and inaccuracy will be reduced as the information is sent via e-Bulk and is automatically checked.

Such organizations as some local authorities, church agencies, the Registered Nursing Home Association, the Scout Association and Girlguide UK have already registered for the service.
