Skype might be sold to its former owners
Media reports say that the founders of the prominent Internet telephony service Skype are seeking to buy their company back. According to the New York Times co-founders Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis have contacted several private equity firms in order to make a bid for the company they sold some four years ago.

Additionally latest statements of the current eBay CEO John Donahoe suggested that the company is considering possible sales of Skype unit. He said that Skype has no synergies with the rest of eBay. Besides, he also noted that the company would do what was best for eBay and Skype which made some observers think eBay is interested in selling.

It is unclear if the two con-founders were in talks with eBay. According to some sources familiar with the situation they are hoping to raise about $1 billion in equity from private investors. Another potential scenario cited by the source would see eBay putting up the rest of the financing via a seller's note for a deal estimated to be worth more than $2 billion.
