UK ecommerce is heavily consumed by women
Karin von Abrams, senior analyst at eMarketer, revealed that the ecommerce sector is more and more invaded by a great number of female users who turn to the Internet for different purposes. She noted that recent research from IPC Media showed 74 % of UK women who surf on the web did it every day in 2008 which is a 71% increase as compared with the year before.

The most popular Internet activity among women was online shopping with 97% of female users recorded as searching for some items online and 92% of them making purchases with Internet retailers.

"A phenomenal proportion of women using the net are researching or buying products online, signaling a real revolution in retail," Ms von Abrams remarked.

According to another research held by TNS Global housewives were the most active users of the Internet in UK last year in comparison with other social groups. Female users spent 47% of their free time on the Internet while students and unemployed devoted to the web surfing only 39% and 32% respectively.
