Facebook, a library of poor quality video
Now users of Facebook can easily load bad quality Webcam videos to their accounts.

Chris Putnam, the lead video developer of Facebook, stated that 40% of Facebook video uploads came from webcams. Consequently, the quality of them is not of a top priority. One of the users even stated that most of the videos his friends on the network site were uploading were of them dancing in their dorm room or playing on their guitar.

Some other data that Putnam provided was that the site received some 260,000 video uploads per day, and 155,000 of them were recorded on webcams. The amount has increased even further since a video tab was added to the site's home page after March redesign. Only 3% - 4% of those uploads were of a top quality, and just 25% of a high quality, continued Putnam.

Another addition that Putnam said is likely to be made to the video feature of Facebook is a Web show for promotion, advertising, analytics, etc.

It should also be highlighted that Facebook allowing webcam uploads has blown away most of the social video services that do or don’t offer such opportunity, including Motionbox, Tokbox and Seesmic.
