If you want to steal something use Google Earth
The Telegraph reported that Tom Berge, 27, a builder has been charged for using Google Earth to identify lead roofs across south London and made off with £100k's worth of metal.

It has been identified that Berge had targeted Croydon Parish Church, Honeywood Museum in Carshalton and Sutton High School for Girls during six-month internet lead-lifting.

The criminal would search for lead roofs on Google Earth, as they could be spotted from their slightly darker shade. Then Berge would climb onto the roof, strip the lead, and pass it on to scrap metal dealers.

He was caught in February. Last week Sutton magistrates court pleaded him guilty to theft and Berge got an eight-month suspended jail term, 100 hours community service and a curfew.
