Americans heavily press on online banking

As HSBC Direct reported, nearly a half of all American Internet users apply to online banking. That reflected a 23% growth since the early 2007.

The study revealed 62% of users aged 21 to 34 conduct most of their banking through the Internet. Among the customers aged 45 to 69 40% use their online banking account actively. What’s important, customers are likely to use their online banking account on the days when their closest bank has a day off. In 2008, HSBC’s Web site experienced almost 25% of its traffic over the weekend.

According to the HSBC executive vice president of personal financial services Kevin Martin, people are increasingly turning to Internet banking because of the high convenience, independence and typically better value that it can offer.

Forrester Research’s projections about the future of online banking suggested the figures of 76% or 92 million American households that are anticipated to use online banking by the year 2011.
