U.S. prosecutors will launch a criminal case against Ruth Madoff?
The investigators are seeking to freeze the assets of Ruth Madoff as reported by the New York Post. The federal authorities suppose that she may flee away from the country with some of the $93 million in her name. Prosecutors told that the freeze was just an initial step with a criminal case to be launched against Ruth Madoff.

The SEC and federal prosecutors in Manhattan are going to ask a judge to formally freeze Ruth Madoff’s assets as soon as possible. According to SEC sources U.S. attorneys plan to argue that assets were derived from ill-gotten gains.

While Ruth Madoff played no formal role in her husband’s investment fraud and were accused of any wrongdoing she still failed to show herself better. Before her husband's December 11 arrest Ruth mailed over $1 million worth of jewelry and watches in violation of a court order, withdrew $15.5 million and attempted to separate millions of dollars of her assets from his purported fraud.
