Nokia Siemens introduces Unified Charging and Billing

On top of postpaid billing systems, prepaid billing was intended to target special segments that would expand the market. Operators had no choice but to run two separate systems for the two different billing as prepaid model has been based on lower ARPUs.

Nokia Siemens introduced the Unified Charging and Billing solution that places the charging and billing functions associated with telecommunications into one layer and the enterprise and financial processes into another. The latter layer features Oracle’s customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications embedded by Nokia Siemens to provide combined customer care, financials and reporting functionality.

By implementing a single system operators will be enabled to provide an online account view for subscriber about their service usage and costs. Customers are expected to find it more convenient to check out new services because of cost transparency. Operators can decrease costs my applying the unified system into their operations.
