MEPS uses IBM solution for growth

IBM provided Malaysian Electronic Payment System (1997) Sdn Bhd (MEPS) with upgrade to the System z9 Business Class (BC) that will boost MEPS’ IT environment capabilities to meet its demands for a sizable growth in Interbank GIRO (MEPS IBG), an interbank funds transfer service.

IBM arranged a System z9 BC for MEPS IBG's production and disaster recovery sites. The solution enables MEPS to cut overall business costs as well as simplify its IT management as it offers three times the bandwidth MEPS employed previously. MEPS will be able to create new products and support faster service for its customers.

According to Group Managing Director of MEPS Dato' Mohd Hata Robani, MEPS IBG has faced a compounded growth rate of 52% in the last three years. Also, MEPS IBG is a supporter of Government’s scheme to promote E-billing. The IBM upgrade comes as a provision for the expected future in IBG transactions.
