ViVOtech gains a key NFC related software patent
ViVOtech announced today that on December 23rd 2008 it has been awarded a key NFC related software patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent covers a broad range of methods, systems products that enable the company to provision credit, debit, prepaid, loyalty and other payment or non-payment cards into mobile phone devices over the air (OTA), through wireless networks or the internet.

Moreover, the patent gave the company an opportunity to add such benefits into its service as: double (card issuer and card holder) parties provisioning; consumer self-authentication anytime, anywhere through mobile networks; a two-server architecture that allows an issuer to use a dedicated server in its own premises or the one operated by a third party on its behalf; ability of an issuer to provide relevant information (their branded image, customer support information, etc.) from their plastic cards to the card holder’s mobile devices; allowing first time users to provision a single payment or loyalty card one at a time, and existing users to provision multiple cards when switching mobile phones.
