Qualcomm adds NFC support

Qualcomm Incorporated announced additions of support for Near Field Communication (NFC) technology to certain chipsets in its product portfolio. The technology is well suited for such applications as payment, mass transit, ticketing that require a quick and secure contactless data exchange between devices that are in close proximity to each other. 

Mike Concannon, senior vice president of product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies, commented on the news by saying, “We are now engaged with leaders in NFC technology to offer reference designs that have this next-generation functionality.”
