A judge of Lehman Brothers case can be imprisoned
A family incident that took place in the household of the New York judge assigned to the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy case leaked into the press. On Sunday morning U.S. Bankruptcy Judge James Peck was charged with attempted assault and harassment against his wife and shortly after midnight Sunday he was brought to Manhattan criminal court. Peck was released without bail.

The ‘injured’ wife Judith reported to the investigators that Peck struck her with an "open palm" at their Park Avenue apartment, causing "substantial pain" in her jaw area. Peck is scheduled to be courted on March 16. He faces a maximum sentence of 90 days in prison. How the incident would affect Peck’s judicial duties is not clear yet. Obviously, America is rich in laws protecting human rights but there are too few principles left. Surely, you shouldn’t silently suffer from incessant humiliation but what is the use of bringing the family filth in public view?

Peck, maybe not one of the best family men, was assigned to the Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. case in September when the investment institution submitted the largest and one of the most scandalous bankruptcies in the history with over $600 billion in liabilities. James Peck is a native New Yorker; he was sworn as a bankruptcy judge in Manhattan in 2006. He has a degree from Dartmouth College and one more degree from New York University School of Law.
