Barclays known as a major global financial services provider engaged in retail and commercial banking, credit cards, investment banking, wealth management and investment management services, with an extensive international presence in Europe, the USA, Africa and Asia now offers customers new solution. It is mobile banking customers free security software from anti-virus vendor Kaspersky to protect them from malicious programs and SMS spam. It is mentioned that Barclays has become the first UK bank to offer its online banking customers with free mobile security via Kaspersky Mobile Security. This mobile customer’s free protection can be downloaded from its mobile site. Back in July, 2008 Barclays made a groundbreaking announcement that it would provide the award-winning Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 free of charge to the two million customers who are registered for its online banking service. So what actually makes new service so unique and attractive for customers? Easily installed on the web-enabled mobile phone of a Barclays customer, KasperskyMobile Security delivers valuable protection in the case of loss or theft of the device. It enables the owner to secure all data and access to it, until it is recovered and in the instance of theft, all information can be remotely wiped. Additionally, should a new SIM card be entered to the device, a hidden SMS will be sent informing of the details of the new SIM card to be passed to the device provider and relevant authorities.
In addition, Kaspersky Mobile Security provides award-winning defenceagainst attacks (viruses, trojans, worms, spyware, backdoors, keyloggers, rootkits, phishing and spam/hacker attacks) from cybercriminals looking to profit from the mobile Internet, as well as preventing SMS spam.
Sean Gilchrist, Director for Electronic Banking at Barclays highly recommends using Kaspersky Lab products because it is a good choice. Moreover, he assured that Barclays has offered customers one of the best security packages of all online banks over the last two years and they should protect their mobile phones in the same way they do their computers from all threats, by downloading this new software.
