Google attracts customers with its "Checkout" icon
And for that purpose it chooses the following way. On its Google Checkout page, Google claims that when you use a "Checkout" icon and buy an AdWords ads, you will not only get the Checkout sale processed for free, but it will also lead to higher conversions and can increase ad click-through by 10%. So it is a part of its business strategy. In fact the 10% higher click through figures is very noticable, as well as another statistics from the Google Checkout Merchant page, which contends that ads displaying the icon also have a 40% higher conversion rate. And that number is big.

Also the interesting thing about Google is that it uses Fred Lerner of e-commerce network Ritz Interactive who assures that the Checkout icon has given them a 23% increase in clickthrough rates'. It is known that Google Checkout payment service was designed comparatively after PayPal. However, it developed its functions a little bit differently from PayPal. It was improved with Google's clout: it means that AdWords clients that use Checkout can get their Checkout transactions processed for free. Those clients have other benefits. For example they get higher visibility in Google's search results. It is because the Checkout icon is considered prominent. It is the opinion of Blogoscoped, which posted imagery of a Checkout-infused ad in the Google search.

As Barry Schwartz at Search Engine Land comments that the first larger changes of Google that made it a badge set were observed about two years ago. After that more colourful option was added. And it still is working on the look.Google Checkout's non-Adwords merchants are charged 2% plus $0.20 per transaction. AdWords clients may use the service at no cost for sales of up to 10 times their monthly AdWords spend; after exceeding that limit, they are charged 2% plus $0.20 per transaction. The experts predict that if the Google Checkout badge becomes a big trend, it may just increase Google Checkout's market share significantly. According to says Philipp Lenssen at Google Blogoscoped , that achievement will be good for Google, perhaps less good for competition like EBay-owned PayPal.
